The Winds Whisper

Let go
The winds whisper
Let go
And move on
Before it's too late

A sinking feeling deep down
Despair sets in
Hands clenched tight
Only one thought remains
I love him
Echoing through the night
Under the shimmer of
Silver moonlight

Nothing blocks
The dull sharp pain
A laughing smile
Yes I'm fine
While inside
A voice screams out
Liar!
And the light of innocence
Refuses to shine

Let go
The winds whisper
Let go
Set yourselves free
You and him

Naked and unveiled
The searing truth
Wounds reopened and tears fall
Regret, remorse
Sharp and piercing
Knees buckle from
The burden of it all

Freedom long in coming
Strength building
With each passing day
On shaky ground
Be free
Yeah right
Listen to what
The winds have to say

Let go
The winds whisper
Let go
The past will never be
The present
Again.
