Spring's Winter Peace

Searching,
Nose to the ground
Bloodhound sniffing
The green scent of spring
And pine needles.

Rosy horizon
With tall skyscrapers
If only others could see...
Spirals of ethereal white clouds
If I believed in Heaven
It would be this
One cold winter day
In spring.

Breathe in, breathe out
The white mist
Freezing cold
But a thrilling exhilaration
Nothing can match it
This sense of being
Alive.

Snow covers the boughs
Of trees that've long given up
Hope in seeing
This frosty white stuff
That snowmen are made of
With red carrot noses

Look over there
Beyond those mountains
Beyond a desert and more
Snowy peaks
Across the plains
And near the lakes
One is there.
If only we were both there
Cold together
Dreaming, loving, feeling together.

One last look
The white dotting the
Low mountain peaks
Travel some more
Stop
Watch the sky glow warmly
Against the outline of civilization
Dreaming beyond the horizon
Loving more...
And at peace.
